Research: Bilingual medical judgments and decision-making

What were your previous program(s) of study or experiences?

I majored in psychology as an undergrad at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and then completed my master’s degree in social sciences at the University of Chicago. After graduation, I worked as an RA and a lab manager at Booth School of Business.

What are your research interests?

My research is focused on bilinguals’ judgments and decision-making across their native versus non-native languages.

What made you choose Northwestern’s CSD department?

I chose Northwestern CSD because it has many leading scholars who practice serious sciences and are dedicated to helping students succeed. I came to Northwestern in order to work with Dr. Viorica Marian, who is an expert in the field of bilingualism and has been a great source for me to enrich my knowledge in bilingualism research. In addition, the department’s diverse research interests provide me with great opportunities to learn different theories and research methodologies.

What resources or characteristics of Northwestern enable your research?

Northwestern offers a number of courses that teach researchers how to communicate their sciences effectively. I have been benefiting a lot from those courses.

What are your professional goals?

I want to eventually become a professor and run my own laboratory. My goal is to continuously produce high-quality research that can benefit society.
